Crispy Apple Pickles

Experimenting with my first Fall Harvest at Peacefield, I made APPLE PICKLES!

My first experiments used immature apples but those were not nearly as delicious as the ones I made with more mature, sweet apples. So here goes this websites first recipe share.

Ingredients:

1 cup of organic cider vinegar

1 cup of water

1 cinnamon stick

A pinch of allspice

A pinch of ground cloves

1/4 tsp of ground ginger

1 teaspoon of salt (more if you love salty things)

2 sweet & sliced Gravenstein, Jonagold or Golden Delicious Apples - your choice

Method:

  • Place the apple slices in 1-litre Mason jar

  • Mix your remaining ingredients together and then pour over the slice apples

  • Close the Mason jar and put in the refrigerator

  • Let your creation rest overnight in the fridge

  • Try out your APPLE PICKLES on their own, in a salad or with cheese.

Let me know what else you do with the recipe. I’m going to add hot sauce to my next batch. Hot APPLE PICKLES will be great with BBQ!
